"The Regional Conference on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean 2018 (for its Spanish abbreviation CRES 2018) is a regional meeting organized jointly between the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (for its Spanish abbreviation IESALC), the National University of Cordoba (NUC), the National Inter-University Council of Argentina (NICA) and the Secretariat for the University Policies of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Argentina (SUP).

It is the most important event of the Higher Education System of Latin America and the Caribbean. Rectors, principals, academics, teachers, students and representatives of numerous governmental and non-governmental organizations meet to analyze and discuss the situation of the education system in the region and to outline a Plan of Action for the next decade. It is oriented towards the need to reaffirm the meaning of education as a social good, human right and State responsibility."
